Message from Mayor Alex Damon:
Welcome to Cordell! Known as “America’s Hometown”, Cordell sits at the geographic
center of Washita County, Oklahoma. We are very proud of our little community, and it
shows. As you arrive, you’ll see the beautiful historic Washita County Courthouse as
the centerpiece of the downtown square. On the National Registry of Historic Places,
visiting our square has been described as “stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting”.

General Information and News
Lions Club is on track for "A New Playground System" for Lee Park which is scheduled for installation in mid 2012. Washita County Elementary Children are designing it with the help of an architect. Their designs will be incorporated into a "one of a kind" playground. You can help support this project by Buying A Picket with your name on it which will be incorporated into the fence that will surround the new playground. Contact a Lions Club member for more details @ 580-515-4461 or 580-832-2323.
Make a difference. Most local organizations or clubs need volunteers. Contact them to see if you can help.

The City of Cordell, consisting of the Council, Mayor and employees, works hard to provide it’s residents with a safe,
comfortable and prosperous place to live. They have also set goals to further improve the standard of life for the
residents in the coming years. Projects and ideas are continually being researched. However, only projects that are
beneficial to the community are considered. The City keeps the welfare of it’s residents and businesses at the
forefront in any decisions made.
As part of the Cities progressive stance on the future, the City wants to keep you informed on events, employment
opportunities, policies and other useful information. To that end this page was developed in conjunction with the
Cordell Chamber of Commerce.
In the coming months the City will provide more content on this page. However, this is a work in progress so please
be patient and check back often to see us grow.
If you have any questions or suggestions just let us know. We are here to help.
City of Cordell Council Members, Employees and Staff are working for you toward a better future.

Tourism is important to us; and you will find some real western hospitality here. The shops, restaurants, and parks are always
welcoming, and if you need anything at all, just ask! So stop by for a visit, or check out our first-rate schools and think about
relocating here. Cordell is an absolutely wonderful place to live for children and your families, or as a retirement community.
We are proud to offer the best of slow-paced western living and access to high-tech conveniences.
I moved here with my family just seven years ago, and instantly saw what a gem was located in wide-open southwestern
Oklahoma. When you visit, be sure to stop by City Hall - I'd love to meet with your personally. We offer friendly motel service, as
well as RV facilities, and there's always a great film at our renovated historic theater; the only THX certified theater in the
region, it is a must-see,. Come visit America's Hometown... we look forward to being your host!
